Fishing

With
365 lakes in the county, Cavan is Irelands premier angling location! The lakes,
rivers and streams in Cavan are full of fish all year round.
The lakes and rivers
in the area have good stocks of Bream, Roach, Rudd, Perch and Pike. Eels are
present in all waters in the County. Roach, Bream and Rudd Bream Hybrids are
found in the majority of these fisheries.
Tench
are now more widespread and have grown to specimen size in some fisheries.
Festivals are held annually at Belturbet, with one day open matches taking.
Baits used locally: Maggots, Worms, Bread, Sweet Corn and Caster.
